Banana Split Cakes Are Very Easy To Make

If you love bananas and strawberries, you’ll love this banana split cake recipe. It is delicious with a homemade banana frosting. This cake is so beautiful that I hope my bakery will include it in their wedding cake recipes. This sweet treat is quick and easy to make and the smell of baking will waft through your home.

This banana cake is very easy to make. Bananas tend to over-ripen in the fruit bowl, but with this recipe, you can eat them without wasting them. When the banana peels start to brown and color, you have a tasty treat for the whole family.

In our family, we don’t think about waste. If we have extra bananas that are just as ripe, we can make another banana cake and give it to family and friends as a nice gift. You can also freeze one of the cakes to eat later or freeze just the extra bananas. Simply place the bananas in a freezer bag without peeling them. When bananas are frozen, a reaction to low temperatures occurs. The peel turns black.

The fruit can still be eaten. It is best to take them out of the freezer and put them directly into the cake or thaw them first.

You can also use freshly purchased bananas that are not yet ripe. Peel the bananas and microwave them until they are charred. This takes no more than a few seconds. When they are ready, use them for this delicious banana split cake recipe.

Banana Split Cake Recipe

Ingredients are

  • 1 can Duncan Hines Deluxe Cake Mix yellow (or strawberry)
  • 1 (1 lb) bag of frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5-6 bananas
  • 1 large can of refrigerated mousse
  • 1 cup finely chopped toasted pecans

Prepare cake mix according to directions, make 4 layers and let cool completely. Mix strawberries and 1/2 cup of sugar. Slice bananas; top edge of layer 1 with bananas, fill the center with strawberries, top with cold whipped cream, and sprinkle with nuts. Continue arranging layers in the same manner.

Brush the top and sides with cold whipped cream, sprinkle with nuts, and set aside in a cool place until ready to serve. This banana split cake can be stored for 2-3 days in an airtight container or up to 7 days in the refrigerator.
