Drinking dirty water can transmit some of the harmful diseases. These diseases, combined with inadequate medical and sanitation facilities, often kill people living in the most desperate communities. The right medical supplies and facilities can treat most of the ailments. They can quickly develop into more serious conditions if without timely treatment. We can use water filter straw to drink such water.
With over 2,500 subtypes, Salmonella is one of the most common bacteria. It can cause a wide variety of illnesses. People suffering from salmonella infection often experience diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and vomiting.
Once infected, Salmonella spread from person to person via the fecal-oral route. Salmonella infections in humans are most common from eating food prepared by babies with poor hygiene or by someone infected with Salmonella. Due to poor hygiene standards in the communities we work with, salmonella outbreaks are never far away.
Common symptoms of drinking dirty water
One of the most common side effects of contaminated water is diarrhea, which usually subsides in a day or more. For those of you who can read this blog post, diarrhea can be easily treated with over-the-counter medications, and you can also make sure a toilet is always nearby. Not so in the vastly different global South.
Many of the communities we work with are overcrowded as well as lacking basic sanitation. This means that communities most susceptible to salmonella outbreaks are suffering from a lack of facilities to deal with side effects. It means that there is a high probability that the infection will continue within the community.
Besides the diarrhea itself that most of us are familiar with, other potential side effects include nausea, stomach pains/cramps, and even hydration.
What is water filter straw?
First, the straw contained a simple steel mesh capable of killing relatively large fleas. Over the past 20 years, Frandsen’s company has contributed more than 37 million guinea worms to eradication efforts. It has helped reduce the number of Guinea worm cases from 3.5 million in 1986 to just 25 last year.
Today, technology has advanced and a single straw allows him to filter out all bacteria, parasites and fleas from 4,000 liters of water. This is enough to keep its owner safe for several years.
Portable water filter structure
You won’t find a lighter, more portable water filter today than a straw water filter. Bottled water is never the best option. With the appearance of an unusually large straw, it should come as no surprise that camping straw filters for backpacking are similar in function to straws. You can use a straw filter dirty water from the water source.
The difference between regular straws and travel water filters is that the latter require a higher pulling force. If the pulling force is enough, the filtration process continues. The main component of straw filters is a cartridge made from hollow fiber membranes. These tightly woven fibers become multiple layers of porous fibres.
Many fiber membranes for water filter straw have a pore size of 0.2 μm. Dirty water must pass through tiny pores in these layers to remove parasites, viruses, bacteria, and other contaminants from the water. The membrane can trap contaminants as they are large. Therefore, the water that comes out of hiking water purifiers is clean and drinkable because it has activated carbon or ultrafiltration membranes that can leave residue from bacteria and viruses.
